Ajith Kumar was born on May 1, 1971 to a Sindhi mother and Malayalee father in Secunderabad. But, he was brought up and grew on the streets of Chennai.
Ajith was the middle son in the family. His younger brother was an IIT graduate who went on to complete his research in University of Michigan. And his elder brother was a cost analyst and stock broker in New York.
At 15 years of age, He was more interested in extra-curricular activities such as bike racing, NCC, rifle-shooting, aero-modelling and trekking.
He was dropped out of Asan Memorial Senior Secondary School situated in Central Madras when he was pursuing tenth standard.
He earned his Diploma in Enfield India and then moved on.
Ajith enrolled himself in Enfield India as an apprentice after a short stint as a two-wheeler mechanic in a small-time shop.
Now, he’s into garment exports and merchandising. He worked with a garment exporter for nearly four and half years and started a textile-processing agency at the age of 20.
Ajith himself called his debut “A disaster” Before he made his debut in a Telugu film PremaPustakam in 1992, he started doing modelling for print ads and TVCs (including the ones shot by ace cinematographer PC Sriram) while pursuing his textile business.
