#MeToo: Singer Karthik & cricketer Malinga included in the list


Singer Chinmayi is going all guns blazing as she is boldly exposing posts from victims of famous sex offenders from various fields including the movies, carnatic music and even cricket. As the #MeToo movement strengthens in India, the next celebrity to feel the heat is singer Karthik. Journalist Sandhya Menon, on Thursday, shared screenshots of messages sent by an anonymous woman. The woman alleged that at a public event, few years ago, Karthik kept talking about her body.

“He wanted to touch me and said he masturbated thinking about me…. Everytime I have met him I cringed to be near him (sic),” she wrote. She added that she has heard other singers complain about him, but he remains an influential singer.

Chinmayi has named famous Sri Lankan and Mumbai Indians star bowler Lasith Malinga in another post where the anonymous victim has related and incident in a Mumbai hotel in which he forced himself on her when she was visiting a friend. Carnatic musician Mandolin U Rajesh and other legendary performers in the field have also not been spared as Chinmayi champions the cause of me too and time is up in South India.

With the #MeToo movement gathering steam, women are calling out many celebrities for harassment. Over the past few days, actors Alok Nath, Rajat Kapoor, filmmaker Vikas Bahl, singer Kailash Kher, and lyricist Vairamuthu have been accused of sexual misconduct.
